Experiment With Different Topics

Postby Steve Lee » Mon Nov 17, 2008 10:44 am

Although you may be more comfortable writing about one, or a few topics, it can help your writing to extend youself writing about subjects that you don't know that much about. On my Communati pages: http://www.communati.com/blog/steve-lee I have "taken a chance" writing about topics that called for doing a lot of research on, so that I now have a "working knowledge" about and can continue to build-on that foundation.

The Communati pages print-out with real good Contrast http://www.communati.com/steve-lee/katrina-chester that I can use to promote the various projects that I am working on.

Politics is good topic because the protaginists are constantly creating new conflicts and exploiting new opportunitys

Another good source of ideas is "The Daily News, your local newspaper: http://www.communati.com/steve-lee/orlando-actors

That's an interesting way to go about things, Steve. Even though I keep everything on my one blog, I like to think I tackle many different topics myself, though I try to stay somewhat related. I'm lucky to also have a business blog that's on a totally different subject, yet even with that one I tackle different aspects of my business.

I think that every person in the blogsphere, always taps into an array of subjects regardless of whether they are only writing in one specified field. I feel that it's the experience underneath it all, that links all the different topics into an overall understanding. It is this connection that is important, and makes the writer/blogger stand out. Our many subjects are interlaced in different topics already in how we express ourselfs through the experiences and understandings, and can have a way of reaching out to people in different ways. I believe that this is where the real value lies, in the connection between the reader and the blogger.

Good point, Ana. Actually, since I wrote that post I did create another blog, but it's really geared more towards a topic that I decided I wanted to track more than something I was really familiar with, or at least what I hadn't known I was all that familiar with until I started writing it.

What amazes me is that no matter how often you read a blog on any given subject, the fact that someone offers a different viewpoint sometimes puts a different spin on things. Then there is always the language used as some tend to write with a more technical style of writing while others use a more simplified style.

Ana, you may want to go into the user control panel and adjust your signature so that it incorporates a link to your blog. This will then be added at the end of every post you write. ;)

I think all bloggers start out with one idea of what their blog will focus on, and then all bloggers adjust that focus. It evolves as our interests become more refined through our writing and responding to the comments that are garnered by our writing.

The libraries and internet e books have made this very easy. Now you just have to show the interest and concentration then you can easily write on any topic.
